Former flight crew arrested, charged

Police today arrested and laid charges on two former flight attendants for violating the Prevention & Control of Disease Regulation.

 

In a statement, the force said their investigation revealed that the duo, while employed by an airline as flight attendants, arrived in Hong Kong from the US on December 24 and 25, 2021.

 

During medical surveillance, they failed to observe the conditions specified by a health officer by conducting unnecessary activities in contravention of the regulation on December 25 and 27.

 

Both subsequently tested positive for the COVID-19 Omicron variant and have been discharged from the hospital upon completion of treatment.

 

Police explained that they took such action after seeking legal advice. The arrestees have been released on bail.

 

They are liable on conviction to a $5,000 fine and six months’ imprisonment.
