San Diego police investigating fatal stabbing at Sabre Springs park

A 22-year old woman died early Sunday morning after being stabbed in a neighborhood park in Sabre Springs, police said.

San Diego police received two calls at 2:30 a.m. reporting the stabbing at a park on Meadow Grass Lane near Wickerbay Cove. When officers arrived, they found a woman unconscious with at least one stab wound to her torso.

Officers performed CPR and paramedics transported the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 3:45 am.

Homicide detectives were called and are investigating the incident.

Police were told the woman arrived at the park with friends and walked over to a group that was already there. After a brief encounter, she walked away and told her friends that she had been stabbed, homicide Lt. Andra Brown said in a statement.

A man was seen driving away from the area in a dark vehicle. A detailed description of the suspect was not released.

The victim has been identified but police are not releasing her name, Brown said.
