Man who allegedly cheated six contractors of RM710K remanded: Report
Kota Kinabalu: City policy have arrested and obtained a remand order against a man who allegedly cheated six contractors of RM710,000 by wooing them with two bogus projects worth millions of ringgit according to a report.

City police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the man, who was arrested on Dec 31 last year, was believed to have cheated the contractors over six months, promising them with a statewide contract to change streetlights and another to construct a building at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park.

Two of the contractors lodged police reports in September and November last year while the remaining four this year.

The suspect is currently under remand and faces 10 years' maximum jail, caning and a fine if convicted under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, said Zaidi.
