‘Rajput’ cop won’t trim moustache, suspended
BHOPAL: A constable posted at the police HQ in Bhopal has been suspended for sporting a non-regulation moustache and refusing to part with it. “I’m a Rajput. I will accept suspension but won’t remove my moustache,” suspended constable Rakesh Rana said.
He was deputed as a driver to special DG cooperative fraud and public service guarantee. He ignored repeated warnings to trim his hair and moustache, said police officers.

“Officials said I should get my moustache trimmed, but I can’t cut it. I hail from a Rajput family, moustaches are related to our self-respect. In the police force too, I feel good about it. Several police officers, too, have moustaches. I can’t understand why I was asked to trim mine,” I have been working with officers for nearly a year, and I cannot understand why all of a sudden this has happened,” Rana said.
Rana’s suspension was related to indiscipline, additional IG, cooperative fraud and public service guarantee Prashant Sharma told TOI.
