An infamous ex-Hollywood supermadam has died aged 64 after a reported dramatic weight loss.

Jody 'Babydol' Gibson was found dead at her home Yucca Valley, California, US, on Sunday morning.

Known as Sasha of the Valley, the infamous pimp employed at least 300 women across 16 US states, as well as parts of Europe, during the 1980s and 90s.

In June 1999, she was arrested as part of a sting operation on suspicion of pimping and conspiracy.

She appears to have passed away in her sleep and no foul play is suspected, reports TMZ.

Husband Eric Markel confirmed to the news outlet that Gibson had died and claimed while she wasn't battling an illness her weight had drastically reduced.

He said she weighed just 87 pounds at the time of her death.

Her husband also added the couple were in the middle of a messy lawsuit in relation to the sale of their home and speculated that she may have succumbed to exhaustion.

At the time of Gibson's arrest, prosecutors argued she ran one of the largest prostitution procurement operations since Heidi Fleiss, who operated in LA and was dubbed the 'Hollywood Madam'.

Gibson's black book was entered as evidence to her trial in 2000, which listed the likes of actor Bruce Willis, musician Steve Jones and former Texas lieutenant governor Ben Barnes among her clients.

All three denied any association with her business.

Gibson was sentenced to three years in prison before being released in 2002.

She had been born in Westchester County, New York, to a show business family.

Her father was a CBS radio announcer in the 1940s and owned a clothing boutique chain, while her mother was a talent scout who discovered an unknown Tom Cruise.

Gibson moved to California in 1984 hoping to become a musician and model and found work as an actress on US Network show Night with Rhonda Shear.

She set up a small modelling firm in 1988 and it evolved into an escort business.
