Former Alabama Secretary of State Nancy Worley dies

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Nancy Worley, who served four years as Alabama’s secretary of state before later becoming the longtime chair of the state Democratic party until her 2019 ouster during a power struggle, has died at the age of 70.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Nancy Worley, who served four years as Alabama’s secretary of state before later becoming the longtime chair of the state Democratic party until her 2019 ouster during a power struggle, has died at the age of 70.

Her death was confirmed by her friend and long-time coworker and political ally Joe Reed. Reed said hospital officials informed him this morning of her passing.
