Week 15 in the NFL has been a crazy one, specifically for teams like the Las Vegas Raiders. Along with five other teams, the Raiders had their schedule changed due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases. They were set to take on the Cleveland Browns Saturday afternoon, but the league rescheduled the AFC matchup for Monday night.

Despite the rollercoaster of a week, the Raiders were able to pull off a victory on Monday. Led by quarterback Derek Carr, Las Vegas came out on top 16-14. Let's take a look at three of the major takeaways from the Raiders' win in Cleveland.

Las Vegas Raiders Week 15 Takeaways

1. They can pull of spiteful wins

This wasn't just a clutch, buzzer-beating win for the Raiders — it was a spiteful one. As mentioned earlier, the Raiders vs Browns game was pushed back two days in light of the COVID-19 outbreak that has plagued multiple NFL teams.

However, the outbreak only really impacted the Browns. Las Vegas was barely affected and had a mostly healthy team ahead of the originally scheduled game on Saturday. This caused chaos amongst Raiders fans, players, and personnel.

Linebacker K.J. Wright accused the NFL of lying, after they said there wouldn't be any game postponements due to COVID-19 this season. He alluded to the Browns receiving special treatment from the league, tweeting this:

Even Raiders owner Mark Davis voiced his opinion, calling the postponement a “competitive disadvantage” for Las Vegas.

All of this in mind, there is no doubt that spite fueled the Raiders on Monday. Instead of complaining and accepting a loss they deemed as “unfair,” the Raiders came up clutch with a much needed win in Week 15.

2. Special teams players can be clutch

The biggest takeaways from the AFC matchup come from the very last moments of the game. To recap, the Raiders were down one, had the ball, and were working within the final two minutes of the game. Derek Carr threw to multiple weapons in the offensive drive, ultimately pushing into Cleveland territory.

He got the team as far as he could, but wasn't able to find the end zone. This is when kicker Daniel Carlson hit center stage. As the game clock approached zero, Carlson nailed the 48-yard kick, sealing the win for the Raiders.

Carlson's performance proves his clutch capabilities as a special teams player for Las Vegas, and also validates his recent contract extension with the team.

3. The importance of time management

Finally, above all else, the Week 15 matchup between the Raiders and the Browns emphasized the importance of time management. Again, this takeaway is in reference to the nearly flawless execution of the Raiders' final offensive drive.

Carr did a great job at moving his team quickly and efficiently down the field, and showed a great sense of time awareness. His pass to tight end Foster Moreau is a great example of this. The outside pass allowed Moreau to pick up a few yards while also being able to get out of bounds in order to stop the clock.

Time management has proved to be an extremely important part of playing smart football, and this skill is one of many that allowed the Raiders to come out of Week 15 with a win.
