Padres star Tatis OK after accident in Dominican Republic
Shortstop, 22, treated and released from hospital with what were described as scrapes
Padres star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. was involved in a minor accident Sunday in which he escaped with only minor scrapes, according to sources.
A report out of the Dominican Republic said the incident involved a motorcycle and that Tatis was transported to a “medical center” for treatment.
People familiar with Tatis’ status said he was doing normal activities as of Tuesday.
The 22-year-old Tatis hit a National League-high 42 home runs in 2021, his first season in a 14-year, $340 million contract.
The Padres cannot comment on the status of Tatis or any other players during the Major League Baseball lockout.
