Police ordered him to stop and put the guns down, but he continued to walk toward the police officers. The man also fired shots in the air with the handguns. The Buffalo Grove police officers do not wear body cams, but the police department believes police vehicle dash cams captured the shooting.

The shooting occurred in the east parking lot by Radcliffe Road in Buffalo Grove which is about 300 to 400 yards east of Arlington Heights Road near the S-curve.

A man who said he was the shooting victim’s father parked on Radcliffe Road and walked up to two police officers about 4:30 a.m. to tell them he was the shooting victim’s father. He buckled and bent over with his head down and his hand on his knees while talking to the police officers.

Neighbors to the east of the property were worried that there was a shooter at large after they heard gunshots and saw a large amount of police activity and three ambulances and a ladder truck at the scene. At least two witnesses saw police administering CPR to the victim.

One ambulance and paramedics were assigned to the shooting victim and the other two ambulances and paramedics were assigned to assess the police officers. Standard operating procedure involves transportation of police officers to a local hospital following police-involved shootings.
