Lake Zurich Police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:54 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021 to a report of a chimney fire in the block of 100 West Harbor Drive in Lake Zurich.

Battalion 32 on arrival reported nothing showing from three sides.

The first arriving crews were on the scene within six minutes and started an interior investigation of the residence.

Crews quickly located a fire in the chimney chase. Upon further investigation, crews found the fire was contained in the chimney chase area, and did not extend into the residence. The fire was quickly extinguished and damage contained to the chimney.

The residence was occupied when the incident occurred. There were no civilian or fire crew injuries reported.

At the time of the initial assessment and investigation, initial losses were estimated to be less than $10,000. The fire is believed to have been caused by animal nesting materials in the chimney chase near or in direct contact with the fireplace flue.
