4 imported COVID-19 cases found

November 26, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating four additional imported COVID-19 cases, three of which involve the L452R mutant strain while the remaining case's mutation test result is pending.

The new cases involve three males and one female, aged nine to 43. All of them arrived from medium-risk places.

Two of the patients tested positive upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport while the other two were confirmed infected with the virus during quarantine.

The centre noted that the patient of case number 12424 tested positive at the airport and his close contact, case number 12427, tested positive at the Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre.

In view of four previous imported cases involving patients who had stayed in Hong Kong during the incubation period, people who had been present at seven specified premises during the specified period must undergo additional testing according to the latest compulsory testing notice.

Four schools are also covered in the notice due to outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness.

Meanwhile, specified people linked to Block 4 of New Jade Garden in Chai Wan are reminded to get tested tomorrow in accordance with the compulsory testing notice.

The Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection station at the podium playground of New Jade Garden and set up another one at the open area next to Discovery Bay Fire Station tomorrow to provide free testing services for residents and workers of the two places subject to compulsory testing.

Additionally, the service period concerning the temporary extension of the Hong Kong International Airport’s community testing centre, located at South Transition Deck, L6 of Terminal 1, will be extended to December 12.

A total of 40 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
