November 26, 2021

The Immigration Department announced today that new measures will be introduced on November 29 for the application and collection of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region travel documents on the Mainland.

From that day, the Immigration Divisions of the five Mainland Offices of the Hong Kong SAR Government will not only process replacement applications for passports but also the first applications for passports as well as replacement applications for Documents of Identity for Visa Purposes and Re-entry Permits submitted by eligible applicants.

Eligible applicants holding valid Hong Kong permanent identity cards who submit a first or replacement application through the Immigration Divisions of the Mainland Offices, or submit applications directly to the Immigration Department in person, by post, drop-in, through the Internet or the department’s mobile app, may choose to collect the Hong Kong SAR Passport in the Immigration Divisions of the Mainland Offices.

Regarding the Document of Identity for Visa Purposes, eligible applicants on the Mainland may submit a replacement application at the Immigration Divisions of the Mainland Offices or by post to the Travel Documents & Nationality (Application) Section. Applicants may subsequently choose to collect the document at the Immigration Division of the Mainland Offices.

As for Re-entry Permits, eligible applicants on the Mainland may submit a replacement application in person through the Immigration Division of Mainland Offices. The applicant shall authorise a Hong Kong referee to pay the fee and collect the permit at the selected Immigration Branch Office on their behalf.
