1 imported COVID-19 case identified

November 24, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating one additional imported COVID-19 case involving the L452R mutant strain.

The patient is an eight-year-old girl who arrived from Korea, a medium-risk place. She tested positive at Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre and is a close contact of another imported case patient.

Separately, the centre reminds specified people linked to Towers 1, 2 and 3, Hampton Place in Tai Kok Tsui to undergo mandatory testing tomorrow in accordance with a compulsory testing notice.

To provide free testing service for citizens subject to compulsory testing, the Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection station at the open-air car park on G/F, Hampton Place in Tai Kok Tsui and set up a mobile specimen collection station at Ocean Park Car Park tomorrow.

In view of patients linked to two previous imported cases who had stayed in Hong Kong during the incubation period, people who had been present at three specified premises must undergo additional testing. Those who have completed a COVID-19 vaccination course still need to get tested.

Furthermore, three schools where an outbreak of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness occurred are covered in the same compulsory testing notice. However, people who have finished their jab course can be exempted.

A total of 41 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
