Peffery Way push for all-ability path linking Dingwall and Strathpeffer gets heartwarming boost from friends and family of the late Peggy Bentley (97)

FAMILY and friends of a community stalwart have handed a £563 boost to volunteers behind an all-abilities path linking Dingwall and Strathpeffer.
Following the death of Peggy Bentley (97), who was from Dingwall, her family took a collection at her funeral for a cause she strongly supported.
Her son, Alan said: “We wanted the donations to go towards something that would benefit the people of Dingwall for many years to come, as Dingwall meant so much to both mam and our late dad, Ben Bentley. We felt that mam would have approved of the money going to the Peffrey Way, which is already bringing pleasure and benefit to so many, and we hope that the donation will help towards the goal of completing the path between Dingwall and Strathpeffer to raise funds for something my mum really supported.”
The Peffery Way makes use of the old railway branch line to Strathpeffer for much of its length. The gradients are very gradual, meaning it is suitable for people in mobility scooters and families pushing buggies and prams. When complete, it will allow people to commute by walking or cycling to work and school without having to travel along the very busy main A834.
To date, 4km of the overall 6km length has been constructed. Planning permission is in place for the entire route and land access agreements have been signed with the appropriate landowners covering 90 per cent of the overall route.
The Peffery Way Association hopes to complete another 1.2km of path next year.
