Three-Vehicle Crash with Rollover, Injuries at Route 14 and Algonquin

Police from Algonquin and firefighters and paramedics from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded about 6:47 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 to a report of crash with injuries at Route 31 and Trinity Drive in Algonquin.

Fire Battalion 1 on arrival reported three vehicles involved with very heavy damage and one vehicle on its side. A second Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Crash was assigned to the scene by 6:49 p.m.




A third ambulance was requested at 6:52 p.m. Crystal Lake Fire Department paramedics responded to the crash scene to assist Algonquin-Lake in the Hills paramedics.

FlightNet was requested to meet an ambulance transporting a patient from the crash scene to the Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital helipad at about 7:04 p.m. A pediatric patient was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.




A second helicopter was requested to the scene at 7:18 p.m. for an adult patient, but the nearest helicopter was REACT from Rockford with a 30 minute ETA. The adult patient was transported by ground ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with the REACT helicopter assigned to meet the hospital at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.

The adult patient was transferred to Mercyhealth Hospital in Rockford (Javon Bea Hospital–Rockton).

Initially, there was no confirmation whether there was a third patient transported.
