Stone Creek Coffee Is Closing Its Bay View Cafe

This is the second location to close in 2021.

Stone Creek Coffee announced via social media that its Bay View Cafe (at 2266 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) will permanently close in early December.

The reason is a structural issue with one of the walls, a problem the cafe says it was unable to resolve with the building’s landlord. The significance of the wall is that it apparently poses safety issues. The cafe closed its Whitefish Bay cafe back in spring of 2021.

Here is the statement Stone Creek posted online about the Bay View location:

We are deeply saddened to announce that our Bay View cafe will be permanently closing after business on December 5th. This was not something we had planned. We love this cafe and the Bay View community. We just finished remodeling and investing in our exterior seating area at the end of this last summer, and we were developing plans to refresh the cafe interior as well. However, we’ve been trying to work with the building’s current owner to resolve a structural issue with the south facing exterior wall. We believe this wall poses a safety risk for our customers and employees, and we have therefore closed the entryway on this side of the building and closed the park. In spite of our efforts, we were unable to resolve the issue to our satisfaction. We are so thankful for the support of the wonderful people of Bay View over the last 18 years this cafe has been open. We are disappointed about the need to close under these circumstances, but we are determined to move forward. As we close this cafe there will be no lay-offs. We are committed to retaining all of the Bay View Cafe team through transfers to our other cafes. Please come see us in the future downtown at our Factory Cafe and HQ on N 5th Street or any of our other Milwaukee area locations.
