Bicyclist Killed in Downtown Park Ridge at Northwest Highway and Touhy Ave

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Park Ridge responded about 11:29 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 to a report that a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle at Northwest Highway and Touhy Avenue in Park Ridge.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived within four minutes and discovered a male victim down in the middle of the road.

The victim was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead.




Authorities on Friday, October 7, 2021 released the identify of the man as Timothy Hackett, 30, of Park Ridge.

Timothy Hackett was cycling northwest on Northwest Highway when he was struck by a Dodge Charger heading east on Touhy Avenue, according to Park Ridge Police Department. No charges have been filed with the driver of the Dodge Charger, but the crash remains under investigation by Park Ridge police and the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) Team.

The crash scene was located near where Touhy Avenue, Northwest Highway and Prospect Avenue intersect in downtown Park Ridge. The Speed Limit on Touhy Avenue is 25 MPH, according to Google Maps images captured July 2019.
