10 Runs/Walks Racing Through Milwaukee This Fall

3… 2… 1… GO!

STAY ACTIVE, support a cause, and have some fun this fall season by registering for a run. Most of these events allow you to run, walk or race, but this year is a little different. For a change, many of these races will be offering participants a virtual option. Like many previous years, though, all of these events give friends and families the chance to get together right before the frigid temps.

1. Get Your Rear in Gear

SATURDAY, OCT.9 | ROTARY PERFORMANCE PAVILION (1190 N. 70TH ST., WAUWATOSA)

Run, walk, or bring the kids to help raise money toward colon cancer research, education and patient support programs around Milwaukee. For this Colon Cancer Coalition event, you can register for the timed 5K run, a two-mile walk, or the Kids Fun Run. Don’t want to race? There are plenty of volunteer opportunities as well.

2. UWM Panther Prowl

SATURDAY, OCT. 9 | UWM CAMPUS (2200 E. KENWOOD BLVD.)

Show your support for UWM students at the 17th annual Panther Prowl which is also offering a virtual option for alumni and friends who aren’t able to attend. Adults can run or walk the 5K or youngins can scoot their way through the Kids or Toddlers Dash. Registration includes a Panthers hat for adults, a kids book and finishers medal for kids, and a race bib for both.

3. Trick or Trot Run/Walk

SATURDAY, OCT. 9 | KONKEL PARK (5151 W. LAYTON AVE., GREENFIELD)

A Halloween themed run/walk on the trails of Konkel Park offering two options: Monster mile, the one mile route, and Frankenstein Five, the 5k with awards for the top three finishers in each age group. Stay for the festivities after at the Family Fall Fest and come dressed as your favorite ghost, ghoul or goblin to enter the Costume Contest for a chance to win a prize.

4. Hot Cider Hustle

SATURDAY, OCT. 23 | ESTABROOK PARK (4600 ESTABROOK PKWY.)

This half marathon and 5k run/walk is all spiced up! What could be better than hot cider and caramel apples waiting for you at the finish line on a fall October day? Everyone will also receive the Hot Cider Hustle finishers mug. By registering to race or walk, you will be supporting the cause of the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance.

5. Dia de los Muertos 5K

SATURDAY, OCT. 30 | FOREST HOME CEMETERY (2405 W. FOREST HOME AVE.)

On the day of the dead, where else would you host a 5k run/walk other than a cemetery? Start your morning off with a run and then attend the Dia de los Muertos Festival for music, entertainment, food trucks, local vendors, arts and crafts for children and much more. Celebrate the life of past loved ones during this run and family friendly event.

6. Milwaukee Beer Run

THURSDAY, NOV. 4 | VIRTUAL

This 7th annual run is fully virtual this year; run, walk or stroll your way around Milwaukee on your own time. Participants still receive cool beer swag and a free brew at Bavarian Bierhaus. Complete the 5k in any style, form or fashion you’d like or race against your friends and family in the 54 yarder.

7. The Warrior 5K and 8K… Through the Park

SATURDAY, NOV. 6 | GREENFIELD PARK (2028 S. 124TH ST., WEST ALLIS)

Run individually or as a team of four in either a 5K or 8K race. Offering the competitive feel of cross country running, this scenic race has various terrain types from woods, open areas, roads and trails. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Wisconsin Lutheran College cross country teams.

8. Girls on the Run 5K

SUNDAY, NOV. 14 | AMERICAN FAMILY FIELD (BREWERS WAY)

The Girls on the Run program has trained coaches that use physical activity and intellectual conversation to build social, emotional and physical skills all while living a healthy lifestyle. Become inspired by the girls in the program while you run with them, their families, and yours.

9. Milwaukee Turkey Trot

THURSDAY, NOV. 25 | VETERANS PARK (1750 N. LINCOLN MEMORIAL DR.)

Bring a friend and run the 5K down at the lakefront, or bring the kids for the Kids Dash. At the end of the run, enjoy donuts from Cranky Al’s Donuts. Proceeds from this charitable event will go to the Hunger Task Force. Register before October 20th and get the early bird deal.

10. Drumstick Dash

THURSDAY, NOV. 25 | AMERICAN FAMILY FIELD  (BREWERS WAY)

This event is a Milwaukee Thanksgiving Day tradition. Presented by Festival Foods and Hosted by the Milwaukee Brewers, money raised will go to Feeding America. All participants who run in the Full Drumstick (5k) or the Half a Drumstick (2.5K) will receive a hooded sweatshirt, a Milwaukee Brewers Bobblehead, and enjoy a 5-inch pumpkin pie upon finishing.
