Lindsay Heights Is Getting a Cool New Cafe!

Taste of Lindsay Heights will spotlight budding food entrepreneurs.

The new Taste of Lindsay Heights (1617 W North Ave.) carryout cafe houses several local food entrepreneurs all under its roof. And it’s celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Here’s what you need to know about it: The cafe’s mission is to help food startups get off the ground – startups offering healthy food and drink. The cafe is owned and operated by the nonprofit Walnut Way Conservation Corps., which promotes work, wealth and wellness in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood.

The cafe menu offers lots of nourishing options, from smoothies ($4-$8.50) to a potato bar ($3.50-$4.50). You’ll also find smoothie bowls ($6-$11), including the Green Classic, topped with pumpkin seeds, frozen bananas and mango slices, granola, kale, orange, frozen pineapple and dates. There are two Buddha bowls – roasted chicken and sweet potato ($5.50 and $10). Personal pizzas ($3.50-$4.50), Funky Fresh Spring Rolls (2 for $7.50), salads ($4.50-$6) and soups ($4.50) are also options.
