When Will Fall Colors Peak in Milwaukee This Year?

So far, it looks like our fall foliage will be a little later than usual.

Last week marked the official start of Autumn, and fall foliage is following quickly behind. According to Travel Wisconsin’s Fall Color Report, Milwaukee is currently at 15% foliage, which isn’t much to look at, and surrounding areas are lower (Ozaukee and Washington Counties are at 10%, Racine at 5%).

As of right now, peak MKE foliage is predicted for the third week of October (Oct. 17-23). The same goes for Washington and Ozaukee Counties, while Racine is set for the second week (Oct. 10-16).

If you’re already itching for some color and down for a long drive, Douglas and Florence Counties, up on the Canadian border, are both seeing the most change of any county in the state with Douglas at 55% and Florence at 75%.

Up north, as a whole, is already starting to see color with nearly everything county north of Wausau at or above 35% foliage. Northern Wisconsin is expected to hit its peak before us as well, with most counties anticipating the first or second week of October.
