Police from Hoffman Estates responded about 5:43 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 to a report of a vehicular hijacking at the Mobil gas station, 1 West Golf Road in Hoffman Estates. The two offenders took a white 2014 Nissan Maxima. A man with a concealed carry card fired shots at the carjacked vehicle as the two offenders fled the scene.
Initially no injuries were reported from the scene of the Mobil gas station at the southwest corner of Golf Road and Roselle Road in Hoffman Estates. However, about 7:00 a.m., Chicago police said they were dispatched to the block of 3800 West Chicago Avenue to a report of a shooting. Two wounded 16-year-old boys told police at West Suburban Hospital that they were shot at that location on West Chicago Avenue near Hamlin Avenue. Chicago police say that information was discovered to be incorrect, and that the teens provided inconsistent information.
Initially it was unknown how the teens arrived at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, but both boys were initially assessed and treated at West Suburban Hospital. One of the boys was struck in the left shoulder and back, and was transferred to Level 1 Trauma Center John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was listed in serious condition. The other boy was admitted at West Suburban Hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound in the left leg, and was listed in fair condition.
The white 2014 Nissan Maxima was found a short distance from the scene in Hoffman Estates. Police confirmed that the two teens that arrived wounded at West Suburban Hospital are persons of interest in the carjacking case.

The suspects were described as two male/black subjects, wearing black clothing, white gym shoes, and armed with a handgun.
The suspects and vehicle were also involved in fleeing and eluding from police; the vehicle and suspects were last seen westbound on Higgins Road from Roselle Road at 6:03 a.m.
