Illinois State Police, local police, and firefighters and paramedics from Hoffman Estates responded about 8:41 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 to a report of a rollover crash with a fleeing driver on I-90 near Dundee Avenue (Route 25) near Hoffman Estates and Elgin. The crash was located on I-90 WEST near Mile Marker 56.5. Lanes 1 and 2 were blocked.
Police discovered the crashed vehicle was a red 2007 Toyota Corolla previously reported stolen at Rosati’s Pizza, 395 Cary Algonquin Road in Cary. The Toyota crash with a Toyota RAV4 SUV.
The driver of the red Toyota Corolla, wearing a yellow shirt, fled northbound across lanes of traffic into the grass north of the scene. The fleeing driver was described as a male/Hispanic about 5’7″ with neck length hair, wearing a yellow shirt and jean shorts. At one point he ran past the McGraw Wildlife Preserve. Hoffman Estates and/or Elgin police had the suspect in custody in front of Plote Construction at 1100 Brandt Drive in Dundee Township near Hoffman Estates and Elgin by about 9:30 a.m.
