Jab stations to open at 3 hospitals

September 24, 2021

The Government announced today that three COVID-19 vaccination stations will be set up in Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and Tuen Mun hospitals starting September 29.

The move aims to enable patients visiting the hospital for follow-up appointments and visitors to receive the BioNTech vaccination without prior booking

In particular, the stations target patients of specialist out-patient clinics who are having their follow-up medical consultation.

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip said the slow growth in the vaccination rate of elderly people is worrying as they have a comparatively higher risk of falling seriously ill and dying brought by COVID-19 infection.

As such, the Government will set up vaccination stations operated by medical organisations at hospitals as a pilot scheme to help seniors having follow-up medical consultations at specialist out-patient clinics in these hospitals to get vaccinated immediately.

Mr Nip added that, depending on the actual situation, the Government will set up more vaccination stations at public hospitals after the pilot scheme’s implementation.

The vaccination stations will open from 10am to 7pm on weekdays except public holidays, with no lunch break. Last vaccination is at 6.30pm.

Arrangements will be made for people being vaccinated to have their second dose injection at the same vaccination station or another community vaccination centre.

For those who opt for the Sinovac vaccine, the vaccination stations will refer them to a nearby community vaccination centre.
