Election body interim register set

The Election Committee’s interim register, which contains the names of members-elect of the new term of the committee, will be released on September 27, the Government said today.

 

The final register will be published on or before October 22.

 

The interim register will be made available for specified people’s inspection from Monday to October 21 at the Registration & Electoral Office’s two offices located at 10/F, Harbour Centre in Wan Chai, and 13/F, Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay.

 

Members of the press and political parties may view the interim register there from 9am to 6pm during the said period, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Four inspection timeslots, one and a half hours each, will be provided on each working day.

 

Eligible organisations may make appointments for inspection on a first come, first served basis. Each eligible organisation may reserve one timeslot per day.

 

Starting from tomorrow, applicants may call 2891 4082 or 2891 2070 from 9am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 6pm to get a timeslot. Upon completing the initial reservation by phone, they are required to fill in and return a reservation form before a specified deadline to confirm the booking.

 

The Election Committee is composed of ex-officio members, members to be nominated and members to be elected coming from five sectors, ie industrial, commercial and financial sectors; the professions; grassroots, labour, religious and other sectors; members of the Legislative Council, representatives of district organisations and other organisations; and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region deputies to the National People’s Congress, Hong Kong SAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and representatives of Hong Kong members of relevant national organisations.
