2 imported COVID-19 cases identified

September 23, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating two additional imported COVID-19 cases involving patients who arrived from Kenya and Pakistan.

The centre is also investigating an overseas infection case involving a 52-year-old woman who tested negative in Hong Kong on September 8 and travelled to the UK on September 11 on Cathay Pacific flight CX255.

Her specimen collected in the UK on September 13 tested positive and she was asymptomatic. She had received two doses of the Sinovac vaccine in April and May on the Mainland.

While an epidemiological investigation and contact tracing of the case continues, Butterfly On Prat Boutique Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui where the patient stayed during the incubation period will be included in a compulsory testing notice. Those who had been at the relevant venue at specified periods must undergo testing by the specified date.

As 15 schools have recorded outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness, the relevant schools or their specified levels are covered in the notice.

A total of 36 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
