Canadian fintech Reach to present at GELF NYC 21

Tuesday, September 21, 2021 — 08:04:39 (EDT)

Alberta, CA. 21 September 2021: Reach, the global payment localization provider, has announced it will be attending this year’s Global Ecommerce Leaders Forum (GELF) – a conference 100% focused on cross-border and international ecommerce – taking place at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel on the 28th and 29th of September 2021.

Founded in 2014, GELF NYC 21 will bring together more than 600 global consumer brands and retailers from the fashion and apparel world, health and beauty, consumer electronics and other leading retail verticals for two days of education, sharing and networking.

Reach’s participation in GELF comes at a pivotal time for global ecommerce. Total retail ecommerce sales are set to hit $4.92 trillion by the end of 2021, up nearly 17% from 2020. Businesses in every sector are now seeking to expand their online offerings to serve a growing cross-border customer base.

Giving customers frictionless payment experiences requires localized pricing and regulatory compliance in addition to the ability to access optimal foreign currency exchange rates. Up until now, these operational hurdles have held back many smaller retailers from being able to compete with their larger rivals, but today’s ecommerce technology innovations are levelling the playing field.

On Tuesday 28 September, Reach’s Chief Strategy Officer, Matthew Cannon, will host a Keynote Super Session: Three Stages to Profitable Cross-Border Ecommerce, including Kai Li, VP of International at REVOLVE, and Agustin Farias, International GM at Everlane.

The session, which kicks off at 1:15pm EST, will explain how to successfully stage international expansion plans, sharing insights from REVOLVE’s cross-border journey and will also look at opportunities in the Middle East and South East Asia, explore how to optimize global ecommerce expansion, and share key learnings and take-aways on top-tier markets including Canada, Australia, the UK and Western Europe.

Following Kai’s opening keynote, which will see him discuss the different "levels" of localization and what they entail for each market, Agustin will talk about scaling globally while remaining profitable. Matt Cannon will join the duo for the final segment – a fireside chat discussing the session’s various talking points, as well as some of the new evolving markets and growing trends with focus on Latin America, the Middle East and India.

GELF’s keynotes, sessions, executive roundtable meetups and networking activities will also explore:

The “echo boom” in cross-border ecommerce sales How leaders are re-prioritizing global markets as they invest in fast-growing international hotspots The way DTC brands are re-connecting with post-pandemic shoppers via influencers and digital discovery practices

Strategies that ecommerce leaders are using to overcome supply chain constraints such as leveraging drop shipping and micro-fulfilment opportunities

As a platinum sponsor of the conference, Reach will be exhibiting at GELF, demonstrating how its pioneering solutions are helping retailers to meet growing global customer demand through localized payment methods, optimized checkout conversions, and best-in-class fraud prevention services. Having witnessed 50% year-on-year growth for the fourth consecutive year, Reach’s participation at GELF NYC follows hot on the heels of a succession of new hires in support of the company’s rapid growth.

To meet the requirements of its growing head count, the leading fintech recently announced that it had taken office space in one of Calgary’s most upscale business districts, the Edison building – described as ‘Calgary’s headquarters for collaborators, innovators and visionaries’.

Sam Ranieri, CEO at Reach, commented; “Building on what has already been an incredibly strong 2021, we’re delighted to be a part of GELF as it returns to New York City. The appetite for cross-border ecommerce from consumers worldwide has never been greater, with more customers than ever looking beyond their own localities for their ideal purchase. With this, we know that our services have never been as valuable, or as in demand, as they are at this moment. We very much look forward to joining the GELF attendees and sharing our insights, as we prepare for the next stage of Reach’s evolution.”

Kai Li, VP of International at REVOLVE, added; “GELF brings together the voices of global ecommerce leaders from around the world, producing content, research and networking opportunities that are dedicated to growing cross-border and international ecommerce sales. I’m excited to be back at GELF NYC ’21 in-person, and to have the opportunity to explore regional growth opportunities with the GELF community.”

Agustin Farias, International GM at Everlane, commented; “While other ecommerce conferences and communities focus on the digital retail ecosystem in its entirely, GELF’s emphasis on cross-border and international ecommerce provides a forum to learn and share information and help build global business – something I’m thrilled to be a part of.”
