The Christkindlmarket Is Canceled Again This Year

The Deer District dropped some sad news today.

The folks that brought us Milwaukee’s Christkindlmarket announced today that they will not hold a market in Milwaukee this year. That means no nibbling on roasted nuts and sipping hot mulled wine while shopping for Christmas gifts. The market, which was held on the plaza of Fiserv Forum, was inspired by the outdoor holiday markets in Europe.

Here is the announcement the organizers made on Facebook:

Our biggest subscription sale of the year is happening this week only!

“It is with much sadness that we announce that we will not be hosting a Christkindlmarket in Milwaukee this year. After months of working together with the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Bucks to raise awareness in this event, we unfortunately did not receive enough vendor interest to allow this event to continue. We will be hosting markets in Chicago (Christkindlmarket Chicago) and Wrigleyville (Christkindlmarket Wrigleyville) starting November 19th, and hope that you all will join us there. Thank you for your continued support of the Christkindlmarket and our vendors!”

I couldn’t agree more with this Facebook comment: “What?! This sucks!!! I love going to this, it’s too far to go to downtown Chicago. Damn.”

C’mon, Chicago, really?
