Jeff Daniels plays a police chief investigating a murder in a failing post-industrial Pennsylvania town (hence the “rust”) in this adaptation of Philipp Meyer’s 2009 novel. The novel was hailed as a “classic” and even received comparisons to Steinbeck.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR SCI-FI THRILLS, WATCH …
“Y: The Last Man”
Brian K. Vaughn’s mid-2000s comic series is getting a live-action adaptation. In this semi-apocalyptic tale, every mammal with a Y chromosome dies suddenly and without explanation – except Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand. The “last man” may hold the key to humanity’s future, if he can manage to survive.

“The Premise”
B.J. Novak, known for his role as Ryan in “The Office,” has been cooking up this highly anticipated anthology series for some time. While we still know little about what this show is about, it will be diving into serious topics like identity, sex and social media with the same humor he brought to his short story collection One More Thing.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR CAMPY, SCANDALOUS HISTORY, WATCH …
“Impeachment: American Crime Story”
This is the most exciting fall premiere of them all. “American Crime Story” killed it with the first two seasons (“The People vs. O.J. Simpson” and “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”), and now the Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk-led series is turning its sights on the Bill Clinton impeachment saga. Clive Owen is playing Bill, with Edie Falco as Hillary and Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky. We expect great things.
