Deontae Wade, 26, of the block of 2600 Horeb Avenue in Zion — a defendant who had previously been ordered to electric monitoring — returned to the Lake County Sheriff’s Community Based Correctional Center on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at approximately 9:20 a.m. to have his electronic monitoring device removed. He was due to be discharged from his sentence. Just prior to Wade returning, correctional officers learned Wade was wanted on a new case — a McHenry County arrest warrant for attempt homicide, stemming from a shots fired incident which took place about 1:25 p.m. on August 29, 2021, at Route 31 and Bull Valley Road McHenry.

When Wade arrived back at the CBCC, correctional officers attempted to take him into custody on the McHenry warrant.  Wade was able to defeat their attempt to handcuff him, and he fled out of the building.  A correctional officer gave chase, but Deontae Wade was able to flee.

Numerous sheriff’s deputies, sheriff’s detectives, members of the sheriff’s special investigations group, and members of the sheriff’s tactical response team attempted to locate and apprehend Wade until the early morning hours of September 9, 2021.  Thus far, Wade is yet to be apprehended. Aprehension efforts continue.  Authorities believe Wade was likely able to quickly call a friend or family for a ride out of the area.
