2 imported COVID-19 cases recorded

September 9, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating two additional imported COVID-19 cases involving a woman and a man who arrived from the Philippines and South Korea.

One of the imported cases is a 56-year-old man who arrived from South Korea. He lives at Amber Garden, 110 Blue Pool Road, Happy Valley.

The patient tested negative in Hong Kong on August 16 and travelled to the US on August 18.

He returned to Hong Kong on September 7 by flight KE607 and his specimen collected upon arrival at the airport tested positive with the L452R mutant strain but not the N501Y or E484K mutant genes.

The patient works at Room 602, 6/F, Tesbury Centre, 28 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai and he last went to work on August 17.

The buildings where he stayed and worked in Hong Kong during the incubation period have been included in a compulsory testing notice.

The centre also reminded specified people linked to Block 1, Bo Shek Mansion, 328 Sha Tsui Road, Tsuen Wan to undergo compulsory testing tomorrow in accordance with the notice.

Meanwhile, in view of two non-locally confirmed cases involving patients who had lived in Hong Kong, two specific premises are covered in the latest compulsory testing notice.

Two schools are also subject to compulsory testing due to outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness.

The Government will set up a mobile specimen collection station at the podium next to Block 1 of Bo Shek Mansion in Tsuen Wan tomorrow to provide free testing services.

A total of 62 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
