Tseung Kwan O restricted area set

September 6, 2021

The Government tonight made a restriction-testing declaration for Tower 2, Le Prestige, LOHAS Park in Tseung Kwan O where a preliminary positive imported COVID-19 case involving a woman with the L452R mutant strain had resided before.

The Centre for Health Protection said the case involves a 42-year-old woman who is asymptomatic and had received two doses of the BioNTech vaccine in Hong Kong in May.

The patient travelled to the US on August 24 and her pre-departure tests conducted on August 22 in Hong Kong tested negative for the virus.

She returned to Hong Kong on September 5 on flight CX883. Her specimen collected upon arrival at the airport tested preliminary positive with the L452R mutant strain, but not the N501Y or E484K mutant genes.

The patient had stayed in Hong Kong from August 15 to 24. She works at Unit 807, 8/F, Block A, Focal Industrial Centre in Hung Hom and last went to work on August 20.

As the case involves a mutant strain, the Government decided to make a restriction-testing declaration for Tower 2, Le Prestige, LOHAS Park where the patient lives.

The declaration took effect from 7pm and aims to be finished at about 7am tomorrow. People in the restricted area are required to stay in their premises and undergo compulsory testing before 1am tomorrow.

Those who have undergone testing from September 4 to 6 and can provide an SMS notification through a mobile phone or related certification containing the test results do not need to be tested again.

According to the latest compulsory testing notice, people who had been at this building for more than two hours from August 15 to September 6 must undergo compulsory testing by September 8 even if they were not in the restricted area when the declaration took effect.

Moreover, the patient's workplace and the places she had visited during the incubation period are also subject to compulsory testing.
