Tom Brady mourns death of former teammate David Patten

Tom Brady shared a message of mourning for the wide receiver David Patten, who died at the age of 47 on Thursday.

“The consummate professional,” Brady wrote on his Instagram story. “RIP my friend. My love goes out to David’s family.”

Patten was a three-time Super Bowl champion with Brady between 2001-04. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in South Carolina. Patten’s motorcycle collided with a vehicle, which then sideswiped another car. The accident is under investigation.

Following his retirement from the NFL in 2010, Patten founded his own ministry.

Patten spent 12 seasons in the NFL playing with the Patriots, Giants, Browns, Saints, and the Redskins.

After retiring from the NFL in 2010, Patten founded his own ministry.

In a statement, Patriots CEO and chairman Robert Kraft also shared his sadness over Patten’s death writing, “He was a devout Christian who followed his passion following his football career and founded his own ministry. David transitioned from an undersized and understated wide receiver to a powerful and passionate preacher. In New England, he will always be remembered as a three-time Super Bowl Champion.”
