Sending police officers overseas to undergo training at Scotland Yard is an area Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho hopes to further pursue.

He showed his interest during a meeting with the British High Commissioner, George Edgar, yesterday.

He said Fijian police officers had received training at Scotland Yard in the past.

“They came back with knowledge that made them renowned investigators,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.

“This is an area we would like to revisit.

“We want to re-establish links at the bilateral level to engage better and enhance policing capabilities, particularly in niche training because in law enforcement, our priorities are the same when it comes to security matters.”

He said he was honoured to be the first Fijian to study at the Royal College of Defence Studies.

Mr Edgar said he was glad to have had the opportunity to meet Brig-Gen Qiliho to discuss ways of strengthening relations in the field of security.
