7 imported COVID-19 cases identified

August 24, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection said today it is investigating seven additional imported COVID-19 cases involving patients who arrived from Lithuania, Pakistan and Turkey.

As Emirates flight EK384 from Dubai and Bangkok on August 22 had five passengers on board confirmed infected with COVID-19 upon testing on arrival, the Department of Health has prohibited the landing of the airline’s passenger flights from the two places from today to September 6.

In relation to a previous local case with the L452R mutant strain, those who had been present at 14 specified premises during the specified period must undergo additional testing. This applies to people who have completed a COVID-19 vaccination course as well.

Meanwhile, the centre reminded specified people linked to Sea View Mansion, 82-87 Connaught Road West and Block 1, Bo Shek Mansion in Tsuen Wan to undergo testing tomorrow in accordance with the compulsory testing notice.

The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at four locations tomorrow for people subject to compulsory testing for free at: the podium next to Block 1, Bo Shek Mansion, Town Square at Citygate, Tung Chung and the public open space of Tung Chung Crescent, the open space outside Mei Yat House, Yat Tung (II) Estate in Tung Chung and North Transition Deck, L6, Terminal 1, Hong Kong International Airport.

A total of 47 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days. One is a local case with an unknown infection source, another is import-related and the rest are imported.
