Soccer players in Rakiraki received ration packs from Fiji Football Association which was given by national team coach, Flemming Serritslev.

Rakiraki Football Association president Jay Krishnan thanked the national body.

“The assistance is timely as the situation is very dire in the district at the moment due to COVID-19 and the players are appreciative of the gesture as this will ensure the wellbeing of their families,” he said.

“The players have been impacted due to loss of employment and reduction in working hours for majority of them and this has resulted in the players venturing out of the district in search of new jobs,” he said.

“To help the country moving forward, these assistance are only forwarded to our registered and vaccinated players as eventually only vaccinated players would be allowed when the season resumes.”

Players in Tavua were also assisted yesterday.
