3 Tips For Connecting with Customers and Building a Fanbase Using Facebook Business Suite

On a traditional business website, customers expect to browse, find information they need, potentially make a purchase and move on. For example, let’s say small business owner Jasper has a website for their market at jaspersmarket.com. Customers may go to their website to find out what hours the market is open, where they should park or if Jasper’s produce is organic.

With a Facebook Page or Instagram account, people expect a different experience — one where a business will respond to their questions, help them select the right product or service or simply chat with them as a member of the community. If Jasper creates a Facebook Page and Instagram account, but doesn’t engage with followers who comment on the market's posts or doesn't answer messages, the business is likely to miss out on valuable customers.

Below, we’ve outlined tips for connecting with customers using Facebook Business Suite — a single place spanning mobile and desktop1 that lets you manage your business activity across Facebook, Instagram and Messenger for free.

It brings together important tools like messaging, posting, insights and advertising capabilities, enabling businesses to expand their audience and save time. In fact, 2 out of 3 Facebook Business Suite users say the product helps them connect with more customers.2 Additionally, businesses using Facebook Business Suite saw a reduction of 17% in time spent managing their business through its advertising and messaging capabilities.3

Facebook Business Suite has changed my life. It’s made everything 10x easier for me. My plate is full, and any minute that I can save is a minute I get to work on designing and actually baking my cookies. I love that I can see everything I need in one place, and that I can post and interact with customers in one spot. Business Suite takes care of everything I need!

Follow the tips below for connecting with customers using Facebook Business Suite:

1
Respond to your audience’s comments and messages promptly.

Timely communication shows you care about your customers and builds your credibility as a business. Luckily, with Business Suite, you can see your comments or messages across all of your business’ accounts for Facebook and Instagram in the Inbox tab.

For a comprehensive view of all your business’ notifications, navigate to the Activity tab.

If you find yourself answering the same questions from customers in messages, such as “when do you close” or “is there a new client discount,” you can create auto-responses to messages in your Inbox.

I’ve set up away messages in Business Suite. This makes me feel a lot better now that I can know a message has been received and a reply sent, even if it’s after my work hours.

2
Encourage participation and conversation.

Social media gives businesses the unique opportunity to build relationships with people before they ever visit your store or try your service. Consider creating posts and stories that ask questions or invite participation, and make sure to reply to those who comment. Here’s where the Business Suite mobile app is especially useful — you can engage with your followers no matter where you are.

3
Find your voice.

Communicate respectfully, helpfully and authentically. Your Facebook and Instagram accounts are how you present your business to the world, so show what makes you unique. This goes for posting content, engaging with followers, and responding to customers — all of which will help you build relationships with your audience. Keep an eye on post comments from your Inbox for opportunities to say “thank you” to compliments, make connections with customers and respond to feedback.
