The Time Variance Authority, or TVA, and even the multiverse have all been made canon. This was all done while also flawlessly developing the stories of the main characters, especially Loki himself. Luckily, there have been many excellent stories that heavily involve the timeline, or showcase Loki and his infamous schemes.

10 Starting Off With Avengers #1 By Stan Lee And Jack Kirby Is An Excellent Choice

Loki meeting the Avengers

It's always best to start off with the classic stories, and it doesn't get any more classic than this particular comic. As fans of the show and the MCU already know, an imprisoned Loki is still a dangerous Loki.

While imprisoned on Asgard, Loki uses his magic to convince Hulk that there is dynamite on a railway bridge, so Hulk destroys the bridge, causing chaos. This then leads to multiple heroes trying to capture Hulk, while Thor goes to confront Loki on Asgard. The heroes would eventually capture Loki, and formally establish the group known as The Avengers.

9 The Stakes Reach A New High In Infinity Wars By Gerry Duggan And Mike Deodato

Thor holding the infinity stones

If there are two things that every MCU fan loves, it's Loki and the Infinity Stones. This story revolves around both of these things. Loki believes that someone is manipulating events in order to keep certain things secret from him. He sets off to try and find these hidden truths, partnering with an Asgardian known as Flowa, and Gamora, who's given in to her darker instincts and become Requiem.

In fact, she remade the entire universe by folding it in half with the power of The Stones. The ending of his journey is quite the payoff too. It's always entertaining to see any version of Loki make a fool of himself.

Loki really cemented the idea in everyone's heads that the titular character can actually be a good and honorable person. He does have his own agenda throughout the show, but he does continuously show that he cares about people and the entire multiverse. This particular Doctor Strange story, titled Loki: Sorcerer Supreme, hands the God of Mischief the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme.

He seems to have dropped his evil ways and gained some decency in this role. He is shown helping people and he even partially heals Earth's magic at one point. Of course, he couldn't possibly retain this mantle forever, but the short period of time he did have it was extremely entertaining.

6 Loki Takes Things Too Far In Siege By Brian Michael Bendis And Olivier Coipel

Loki tells Thor he's sorry

There are times when even Loki can take his plans too far. Marvel's Siege storyline showcases this perfectly. After having manipulated people and events in order to goad Norman Osborn into attacking Asgard, which was on Earth at this time, the attacks finally commence and Loki believes that everything is going according to plan.

However, he didn't realize how powerful Sentry and the Void were. In a last-ditch attempt to stop the monster, Loki uses the Norn Stones to empower the heroes who are fighting the Void, but he is killed for his efforts. Fortunately for fans of the character, gods never stay dead.

4 Meet The President In Vote Loki By Christopher Hastings And Langdon Foss

Seeing the Loki variants throughout the first season of Loki was quite the treat. Not only were some of them thoughtful nods to some of the many comic book versions of Loki, but they were all brought to life eloquently by their respective actors. One of the most entertaining variants was President Loki, so it makes sense that many fans would want to know where that version of him originated.

Vote Loki follows the God of Mischief as he campaigns to be president of the United States. Surprisingly his campaign does pick up some steam, which leads to a young journalist attempting to discredit him and ruin his chances at securing the vote. The concept might seem strange to some people, but this story does end up making for an excellent read.

3 War Of The Realms By Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman, And Matthew Wilson Is Rife With Norse Mythology

Any fan of Loki or any of the Thor movies in the MCU needs to read War of The Realms. This was Marvel's huge comic event of 2019, which focused on the vast array of Norse mythology Marvel has access to. Loki and Thor both have big parts to play in the main story and in all the lead-up material, as they try to find ways to stop Malekith from fully conquering the 10 realms of the Marvel Universe.

In true Loki fashion, his plan was to join Malekith's Dark Council so that he could earn the trust of the dark elf and eventually kill him. He ended up being swallowed by his father, Laufey, King of The Frost Giants. Luckily, he cuts his way out of the giant's stomach and lives to scheme another day.

2 Journey Into Mystery: Fear Itself By Kieron Gillen And Doug Braithwaite Explores The Inner Workings Of Loki

Loki examines himself

One of the Loki variants that didn't get as much time to shine as the other was Kid Loki. He did, however, show that he should be taken seriously. Journey Into Mystery: Fear Itself also features a version of Kid Loki, although this one is on a mission to become a hero.

However, most people don't trust his motivations, given that the original Loki was always up to no good. This makes his interactions with people like Odin and Thor quite captivating. This story is an excellent introduction to the inner workings of the mind of the current Loki in the Marvel Comics canon.

1 Loki: Agent Of Asgard By Al Ewing And Lee Garbett Features A Heroic Loki

Loki as an Agent of Asgard

Even after all the chaos and destruction he caused during his early days in the MCU, Loki really seems to have changed his ways. Fans can clearly see that he has the desire to act honorably without any sinister intentions. Agent Of Asgard is a younger Loki on a mission to try and make up for all the damage he has done in the past.

He goes on secret missions for Asgard, which take him all around the Marvel Universe. Even though it's been done many times now, it's always a pleasure to read about Loki being a hero.
