Take a Weekend Getaway to Rosemont, Illinois

A little over an hour south of Milwaukee, the Village of Rosemont packs a massive amount of food, shopping and fun into just 2.5 square miles. Here are just a few ways to spend a weekend in Rosemont.

Friday

Lunch

WE RECOMMEND PARK TAVERN

Start your Rosemont trip off with lunch. The village has over 40 restaurants to choose from. We’d recommend Park Tavern (5433 Park Pl.), located in Parkway Bank Park, Rosemont’s entertainment district. Enjoy a craft beer and share a plate of chicken wings or street tacos at this tavern before heading out to explore the rest of the Park.

Shopping

WE RECOMMEND FASHION OUTLETS OF CHICAGO

Once your hunger has been sated, head over to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago (5220 Fashion Outlets Way). The 530,000 square foot shopping center has over 130 designer outlets and is the only indoor, two-level center of its kind in the Midwest. Besides shopping for luxury brands like Burberry and Gucci (as well as more affordable options including lululemon, vineyard vines and Nordstrom Rack), you can also stop at the outlets’ collection of contemporary art, which commissions exhibits by both established and emerging artists.

WE RECOMMEND PARKWAY BANK PARK

Parkway Bank Park (5501 Park Place) is home to 15 dining and entertainment venues centered around a spacious and scenic lawn that hosts ice skating in the winter and live concerts in the summer. Stop by this summer to enjoy on the Rockin’ in Park concert series. The concerts run from 7-10 p.m. every Thursday evening through Sept. 2, along with a few weekend dates, and best of all, they’re completely free. Plus, you can grab a meal from the food and beverage tents nearby. In August, the park will be hosting classic rock cover bands, playing the hits of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Motley Crue, the Bee Gees and more.

Spend the Night

WE RECOMMEND THE ROSE HOTEL

WE RECOMMEND THE DONALD E. STEPHENS CONVENTION CENTER

The Donald E. Stephens Convention Center (5555 N. River Rd.) hosts public shows throughout the year, so it’s worth checking to see what it is going on. In August and September, you can visit the World’s Fair of Money Conventions, Great American Stamp Show and the Chicago Sports Spectacular at the center.

Get a Sweet Treat

WE RECOMMEND THE SUGAR FACTORY

Make a midday pit stop at The Sugar Factory (5445 Park Pl). This perfectly named joint in Parkway Bank Park is the go-to spot for a treat. Ice cream, candy and the factory’s signature “Couture Pops” are all available for a quick buy. If you’re looking for a sit-down meal, stop by the Chocolate Lounge alcove in back for homemade flatbreads, pastas and steaks.

WE RECOMMEND THE ROSEMONT THEATRE

If the convention center shows don’t spark your interest, consider the Rosemont Theatre (5400 N. River Rd.). This live entertainment destination hosts concerts, including upcoming shows by Judas Priest and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Dinner

WE RECOMMEND HARRY CARAY’S ITALIAN STEAKHOUSE

For dinner, consider Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse (10233 W. Higgins Rd.). If you know anything about the Cubs, you probably know Harry Caray, the legendary Cubs sportscaster. This restaurant pays tribute to him and reflects his high-energy personality. Enjoy one of their fine steaks with a glass of wine.

Sunday

WE RECOMMEND ALLSTATE ARENA

Before your weekend in Rosemont draws to a close, be sure to check the lineup at Allstate Arena (6920 Mannheim Rd.). One of the most famous venues in the Midwest, Allstate hosts Chicago Wolves hockey games, concerts and more year-round. This late summer and fall you have as wide variety of shows to choose from – Blake Shelton, WWE, Enrique Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli and more.

WE RECOMMEND PICKING A TIME SOON

As you drive back to Wisconsin, you’ll probably find that you weren’t able to pack everything Rosemont has to offer into one visit, so file all those restaurants and concerts away for next time.
