WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the first part of Masters of the Universe: Revelation Season 1, now available on Netflix.

In Masters of the Universe: Revelation, civil war erupts within Skeletor's former empire after he dies in a battle with He-Man early on. Snake Mountain has turned into a techno-cult by Tri-Klops and Trap Jaw, as the minions pursue their own passion. This allows two of Skeletor's most devious allies, Evil-Lyn and Beast Man, to take prominence and almost redeem the friends in the process.

Evil-Lyn's redemption arc begins early on when she poses as Majestra, an old woman who wants Teela and Andra to recover Skeletor's goblet. It turns out this is all part of a larger plan as Lyn reveals herself to be Sorceress' secret aide. She's gotten her agency back and wants to fulfill her identity as a great mage by returning magic to Eternia, healing the planet and, by extension, the universe.

She had enough of Skeletor's toxic ways. While she doesn't admit it verbally, she wants a heroic path. It's why she lectures Teela on love, destiny and taking control of her life. Lyn doesn't want Teela to lose herself and repeat the mistakes she made. In addition, Lyn befriends Orko, teaching him about believing in oneself despite his Trollan family always putting him down.

As a result, Lyn inspires Teela in Subternia to gain half of the Sword of Power from Scare Glow and motivates Orko to sacrifice himself to destroy the villain. This reiterates that she isn't faking it, especially as she mourns the little wizard at his grave on Preternia.

What also drives Lyn is the backing of her colleague, Beast Man. In the old Masters of the Universe lore, Lyn did whatever Skeletor wanted, but she still had a degree of respect. However, past cartoons didn't offer Beast Man the same treatment and made him a laughing stock. Skeletor ridiculed him, and, at times, Beast man wanted to overthrow the boss. But, ultimately, he always ended up right back at Skeletor's feet, satisfied with the abuse. And make no mistake, whether as Skeletor's servant or acting on his own and kidnapping Adam's dad, Beast Man proved to be quite formidable.

However, Masters of the Universe: Revelation changes his sinister disposition. He helps save Lyn and Teela's crew from Tri-Klops' cult, making it clear she's someone he admires. As such, Beast Man joins the fellowship, risking life and limb as he's fed up with a subjugated planet. His brute strength helps them recover the sword in full but just when it seems like they're due a happy ending, Skeletor returns to Castle Grayskull to kill a resurrected Prince Adam again, harness the power of the sword and become a god. Unfortunately, when he beckons the duo to his side, they offer no resistance.

Lyn confesses to Teela's crew that she enjoyed their time together, but, ultimately, she always picks the winning side. Skeletor stored his essence in her staff and was corrupting her all along, so she hasn't really had time to process it all, ergo why it seems like she can make this choice so easily. Beast Man, however, cuts a sadder figure, not interested in bravado. He tells Skeletor it's good to have him back, but there is clearly despondence and regret in his voice. As such, it ruins Lyn and Beast Man's redemption. However, based on how comfortable they were with Teela's team, they may betray Skeletor in Masters of the Universe: Revelation's Part 2.

Executive produced by Kevin Smith, the first five episodes of Masters of the Universe: Revelation are now available on Netflix.
