After the game's successful release earlier in this year, Velan Studios has just launched Season 2 of the "dodgebrawl" hit, Knockout City. The developers have already provided an idea of what lies ahead in 2021, and Season 2 brings with it a brand new look and additional content, with more teased for the coming weeks.

Knockout City offers a new twist on the multiplayer genre that mixes the gym class classic and third-person action. The game offers features players of games like Apex Legends and Fortnite will be familiar with, like changing playlists and its own type of battle pass. While Season 1 saw the game finding its feet in the multiplayer arena, Season 2 looks primed to be bigger and more ambitious.

The first thing that stands out about Season 2 is its theme, which rolls out the red carpet throughout Knockout City and takes players to the movies. Players should expect the Brawl Shop to be filled with plenty of cosmetics paying homage to the glitz and glam of the silver screen. With Knockout City already flush with retro-futuristic outfits and imagery, it appears the golden age of cinema is sure to be blended with neon and holograms.

It's not just the cosmetics that are getting the Hollywood treatment. Season 2 also brings with it a new map to host Knockout City's unique frantic action: the Holowood Drive-In. The existing six maps all include some sort of X-factor that directly impacts the flow of matches, like Jukebox Junction's trains and Galaxy Burger's rotating platforms. The Holowood Drive-In offers the most complex one yet. Here, the environment will change during rounds, with a rotation of holographic constructs changing the scenery and forcing players to adapt to their new surroundings. Each transformation will be a tribute to some of Hollywood's greats, with scenes from horror, fantasy and even kaiju films.

Another addition Season 2 brings to Knockout City is the Soda Ball, which promises to be the most intricate item in the game's roster of Special Balls. The Soda Ball is a ball-shaped soda bottle that, when thrown, starts to fizz up. Once it reaches its breaking point, the Soda Ball will burst and coat surrounding players in the sticky, sweet beverage inside, obstructing the screen and blinding them. While the soda explosion doesn't cause damage, the ball itself can if it connects with a player before it detonates, making it a versatile weapon.

Velan has also provided some details on what to expect in the coming weeks. The studio outlined a rotation of Daily and Weekly Playlists that are sure to keep matches fresh. On top of this, Velan has also confirmed a brand new in-game event on August 24 that will be in the same vein of the recent Heatwave event, though what exactly that will look like is unknown at this time. Season 2 looks to be another great one for Knockout City, with the developers becoming more confident in its vision of dodgeball action. As such, players should definitely look forward to jumping into Season 2 and everything that comes after.
