Michael Avenatti on Thursday elicited complimentary but conflicting testimony about his work from a client turned alleged theft victim, working to cast doubt on forgery allegations while continuing a conspiratorial narrative against prosecutors.

“You didn’t call anybody to report a crime about me, right? … Sir, they came to you, didn’t they?” Avenatti said of the federal agents and prosecutors whose work led to his current trial on 10 wire fraud charges.
