Veteran actress Surekha Sikri passed away at the age of 75 on Friday morning. She suffered a cardiac arrest. The three-time national award-winning actress was last seen in 'Ghost Stories' (2020), in the story directed by Zoya Akhtar.
Surekha Sikri had suffered a brain stroke in 2020 and was hospitalized. Back then, reports said that she needed financial help. A nurse who was treating the actress had told Navbharat Times, “I rushed her to the hospital and she is currently being treated.
I couldn’t get her admitted to any other hospital because of high fees. We do not have that kind of money.”
But the news was denied by the actress and her manager. Her manager had told a leading news portal that Sureka ji had her own finances and her son was also by her side. The family took care of her and gave the best treatment.
In an interview with a leading entertainment portal, Surekha Sikri had expressed her wish to work and earn respectfully. She had said that she didn’t need charity. She even said that she was grateful for the people who reached out to her to offer help but she didn’t take money from anyone.

In a statement shared with the media, the 'Badhaai Ho' star's agent said the actor had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. "Three-time national award winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram," the actor's agent Vivek Sidhwani said.
