Sabah records 651 new cases and two deaths
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah continued to record high Covid-19 cases for three days in a row with a total of 651 new cases on Monday.

State official Covid-19 spokesperson, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) said a total of 146 of Kota Kinabalu’s 244 cases came from Kapayan Prison and 26 of Tawau’s 60 cases are from the district’s prisons.

While 86 of Keningau’s 90 cases are from two clusters, while Agathis cluster contributed 39 of the 40 cases in Kalabakan. He said the new cases on Monday were contributed by cases from clusters with a total of 57.14 per cent, while prisons contributed 25.83 per cent of the new cases.

A total of 231 Covid-19 patients were discharged on Monday, while 467 remained hospitalised, 1,953 are under quarantine at low risk quarantine centres and 902 are quarantined at temporary detention centres/prisons. Fifty seven patients are under Intensive Care Unit and 12 are on ventilated assistance.

Meanwhile, Sabah recorded two Covid-19 fatalities in Kota Kinabalu and Sipitang, respectively. The State also saw two new clusters, Pauh cluster in Kinabatangan and Angsana cluster in Papar.

The Pauh cluster involved a 21-year-old Indonesian labourer of a private oil palm plantation in Kg Pauh Mukim Buang Sayang in Kinabatangan. Subsequently screening detected 23 more positive cases involving close contacts. The Angsana cluster involved a 66-year-old woman who underwent treatment at a private dialysis centre in Jalan Lintas, Kepayan. A total of 29 people have so far been detected positive under this cluster, while 19 are pending results. A total of 81 localities across Sabah are currently under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) with Kota Kinabalu topping the list with a total of 20 localities under EMCO, followed by Tawau (10), and Beaufort (eight). Ten new localities in Sipitang, Papar, Putatan, Kota Kinabalu, and Penampang, are also subjected to EMCO from July 21 to Aug 3.  While two localities namely, Kg Baru Batu Jalan Apas (Tawau) and Kg Ejuk (Kota Belud) will end its EMCO as scheduled on July 20. As for vaccination, to date, five new injections were made for Phase One of Dose One, bringing its cumulative to a total of 65,382 people. While for Phase One Dose Two, a total of 271 new injections were made on Monday making the total cumulative of 58,415 people.

For Phase Two of Dose One, a total of 10,141 new injections were made making the total cumulative of 429,283 people, while Dose Two Phase Two saw 4,752 new daily injections made bringing its cumulative to 303,566 people.

A total of 7,514 registered for the vaccines on Monday bringing its cumulative to a total of 998,195 or 36. 2 per cent, namely 916,397 via MySejahtera, 81,525 via website and 273 manually.

Thirty-four compounds were issued on Monday a majority for failure to wear face masks (11 cases), while 149 vehicles were ordered to turn back at 119 roadblocks across Sabah over the last 24-hours. Inspections at sea were also carried out with 100 in the east coast and 29 in the waters off Kota Kinabalu and Labuan. No arrests were made. Sabah’s overall compliance to the Standard Operating Procedures stands at 95.7 per cent.
