Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run at Touhy Ave and McCormick Blvd Lincolnwood

A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe while walking near Touhy Avenue and McCormick Boulevard around 9 p.m. YouTube Tips ⓘ

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Lincolnwood responded about 9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2021 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Touhy Avenue west of McCormick Boulevard in Lincolnwood near the border with Skokie.




The victim, a 63 year-old woman from Chicago, was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center St. Francis Hospital Evanston with extra paramedics on board the ambulance, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following an initial investigation, police released that the victim was walking near Touhy Avenue and McCormick Boulevard, and was struck by a newer model Hyundai Santa Fe while walking near Touhy Avenue and McCormick Boulevard around 9 p.m. She was struck in the eastbound lanes of Touhy Avenue between McCormick Bouleavard and Town Center Drive — the entrance to Lincolnwood Town Center.

The driver fled the scene.




Police did not initially release the identity of the victim.

The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) Major Crash Assistance Team is working on the crash investigation with the Lincolnwood Police Department.

Touhy Avenue was closed west of McCormick Boulevard during the crash investigation. Police were checking surveillance video sources nearby. Businesses and landmarks nearby by include Lincoln Town Center, Red Lobster, Olive Garden Chipotle Mexican Gill, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bank of America, and Xsport Fitness.

Police are urging anyone with information about the case to call the Lincolnwood Police Department at 847-673-2167.
