Maps: Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Mass.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Massachusetts, with lightning, damaging wind gusts, and street flooding possible across the state, forecasters said.
The thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.
Some areas of the state, including Greenfield and Fitchburg, were under a severe thunderstorm warning, meaning a severe storm is happening or imminent, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of the state, including Boston, was under “significant” risk for thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon, according to the weather service. The south shore was under “elevated risk,” while Cape Cod and the islands were under “limited risk.” .

At 4:30 p.m., the storms were moving across western Massachusetts, bringing “lots of lightning,” the weather service said on Twitter.
