Joanne Linville has died.

The actress - famed for parts in Star Trek and The Twilight Zone has passed away aged 93.

Joanne's agent confirmed that she died on June 20 in Los Angeles.

A statement from her representative said: "Linville lived a full life. One whose spirit, passion for art and life was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her."

The star had an impressive CV - especially during the 1950s and 60s, appearing in over 100 films and TV shows.

Joanne also guest-starred on Star Trek and she was the first female to play a Romulan.

Her Star Trek part was a memorable one for fans of the franchise as it was one of the few times Leonard Nimoy’s Spock character Spock romanced a woman.

Joanne played a powerful Romulan commander who is drawn to and ultimately seduced by the Vulcan’s charms.

She also won a guest role guest starred in an episode of The Twilight Zone.

The star was married to On Golden Pond director Mark Rydell from 1962-73.

Along with ex-husband Rydell and children Amy and Christopher, Linville is also survived by her grandchildren, Austen, Ruby and Ginger, and great-grandson Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell.
