Chhattisgarh: IMA members file FIR against Baba Ramdev in Raipur over allopathy remark
RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh police have registered an FIR against yoga guru Baba Ramdev on a complaint lodged by Indian Medical Association (IMA) for allegedly spreading ‘false information’ about allopathy medicines used for the treatment of Covid-19.
“An FIR has been filed at Raipur against Ramkrishna Yadav alias Ramdev Baba for disobedience of order promulgated by a public servant under Section 188, 269, 504 of IPC and Disaster Management Act for intentional insult to provoke breach of peace,” said Raipur SSP Ajay Yadav.

The complaint was lodged by IMA members Dr Rakesh Gupta, Dr Vikas Agrawal, Dr Asha Jain and others at Civil Lines police station against Baba Ramdev, accusing him of propagating false information against allopathic medicines and posting “threatening remarks on social media on the matter”. Ramdev’s statement was misleading and an attempt to put peoples’ lives at risk apart from tarnishing the reputation of medicos, says the complaint, adding that the yoga guru has “questioned the efficacy of vaccination”.
According to the SSP, police cross-checked the allegations and found Ramdev making “disrespectful and unverified claims” against Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and other medical organizations that have been following a treatment protocol during Covid times. Then, the FIR was lodged.
“It was also found that Ramdev’s statement was in violation of the notification issued by Chhattisgarh government on March 13, 2020, warning against sharing information regarding Covid-19 without permission from the state health department by any person or institution. It was an attempt to spread unverified information on a serious issue during the pandemic that had the potential to spread rumor, put lives at risk and disturb public peace,” police said.
A summons will be issued to Baba Ramdev asking him to join the investigation, he added.
