Everything You Need to Know About Downtown Dining Week

Starting with the fact that it kicks off tomorrow

This week the forecast is for warm weather and… dining deals. Downtown Dining Week: Summer Edition begins on Thursday, June 3 – it runs through Sunday, June 13. This is when scores of local restaurants located Downtown (naturally) offer special prix fixe menus for diners to enjoy for carryout/curbside pickup and/or in-house and patio dining.

Here’s how DDD works: Lunch is two or three courses for $13. Dinner is also three courses for $25 or $35. Some restaurants are also featuring a family meal option. Participating restaurants include Third Coast Provisions, The Capital Grille, The Knick, Onesto, Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria, Smoke Shack, Mader’s, Mason Street Grill, Zarletti and Proof Pizza at the Saint Kate Hotel.

Let’s take The Knick’s lunch menu as an example. You get a starter course of hummus, Caesar salad or gazpacho. Your entree choices are a chicken pita, pulled pork sandwich or salmon salad. Dessert is vanilla cheesecake or flourless chocolate cake. Remember to tip on the value of the meal, which in this case is $21.

For dinner, Mason Street Grill is offering a $35 menu (valued at $54). For appetizers, you have a choice of heirloom tomato gazpacho or a chopped salad. Entree choices are marinated beef tenderloin skewers, pan-seared salmon or basil pesto gnocchi. Dessert is one of three creamy treats – mint chocolate chip ice cream, strawberry lemon ice cream or passion fruit sorbet.

Besides featuring prix fixe lunch and dinner menus, Onesto is running a $70 Italian family meal (valued at $110). Courses are a Caesar salad, pasta with Berkshire pork/grass-fed beef meatballs, and tiramisu for dessert.

Check the DDD website for all the participating restaurants and their menus.
