Cat Deeley blunder as she's heard in background during Alison and Dermot segment

Cat Deeley has been hosting Lorraine this week while the main host takes a break during half-term - but Cat suffered a bit of an awkward moment when Alison and Dermot explained what was coming up on This Morning today

Cat Deeley suffered an awkward blunder today while Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary teased what was coming on This Morning.

The 44-year-old, who is standing in for Lorraine Kelly during the half-term, was heard saying something loudly during the crossover as her mic may have accidentally been switched on.

Beforehand, Cat had been speaking to Strictly stars Giovanni Pernice and Anton DuBeke about their upcoming show together before they began teaching her dance moves.

Cat then introduced Alison and Dermot, who complimented her on her moves

She exclaimed in response: "I know, so much going on over here!"

Alison remarked to Dermot: "She's so fit, isn't she?" The host then turned to viewers as she announced what was coming up on This Morning as the theme music began.

She said: "Now Josie's taking her most terrifying task yet-"

Yet Cat was heard talking over Alison as she said: "Well except I'm terrified in case-"

Her mic appeared to have been quietened as Alison and Dermot appeared to ignore her interruption.

Afterwards, Cat said: "Thanks so much guys. They're still trying to talk me into Strictly - I'm like, no, people would bleed from their eyes!"

But Cat's awkward blip was nothing compared to the awkwardness of Loose Women's row on Tuesday, which saw Penny Lancaster tell Brenda Edwards to "calm down" and Gloria Hunniford rip up her notes.

The panelists had been discussing whether 'Freedom Day' should be delayed after a Government advisor confirmed that the date pencilled in for the end of lockdown - June 21st - is likely to be delayed amid the rise of the Indian variant.

Brenda had criticised the Government opening borders, which she said had allowed the Indian variant to spread in the UK, which Gloria had claimed "wasn't fair".

Brenda hit back: "What [the Government] should have done was wait until the 21st June and then see how the data is with other things that are within our country opening up before sending people [everywhere]. And you can't have any control over people quarantining when they come back. And what is that? An Indian variant!"

Penny tried to interject as she repeated Brenda's name, before saying: "Brenda, Brenda, calm down darling."

Visibly shocked, Brenda made a face and she responded: "I'm very calm."

In an attempt to end the argument, Gloria then tore up her notes, remarking: "I think I'll tear up the rest of my notes on that score. I think we're done with that."
