Sasha Johnson: Teenager charged over shooting of BLM activist

Four men and a 17-year-old boy have now been arrested in connection with the attack at a house party in Peckham

Detectives investigating the attempted murder of Sasha Johnson charged a man over the attack on Friday night.

Ms Johnson, a leading Black Lives Matter activist, was shot in the head at a house party in Peckham, south-east London, on Sunday and remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Scotland Yard has arrested four men and a 17-year-old boy in connection with the attack.

Officers said that Cameron Deriggs, 18, from Lewisham, south-east London, had been charged with conspiracy to murder.

He was due to appear at Westminster magistrates' court on Saturday.

The remaining four were released on bail until a date next month.

Ms Johnson, a 27-year-old mother of two, was at a party in the back garden of a home in Consort Road when four men in dark clothing burst in and shots were fired.

Detectives continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward by calling police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 and providing the reference 1172/23MAY.
